Stallkirche
Stallkirche stands in Westerland on Sylt as a church of the Danish Evangelical Church in South Schleswig. Its thatched roof, simple Scandinavian design and surrounding Friesenwall give the building a distinctly local setting.
A Friesenhof from 1780 became a church in 1976, with the northern wing retaining its former barn character. The entrance replaced a barn door built high enough for hay wagons, while a bell tower added in 1996 completes the exterior. Inside, a communion bench faces the altar, and an organ installed in 1993 came from P. Bruhn & Søn in Rødekro. Danish services once took place in island schools, before this church became a centre for religious and community life.
