Weinbaumuseum Stuttgart

Weinbaumuseum Stuttgart stands in Uhlbach, a Stuttgart district shaped by vineyards and wine production. A historic timber-framed building houses displays spanning Roman viticulture to the twenty-first century. The former wine press dates from 1907 and replaced a smaller local press.

Twelve thematic areas trace changing methods, tools and conditions across more than two thousand years. Wine presses, drinking vessels and decorated barrels over a century old show the craft in material form. The exhibition explains local soil, climate and the land consolidation of the 1960s and 1970s. Traditional terraced vineyards became larger plots, while videos share winemakers’ work on steep slopes and at the press.

Eugen Häfele’s woodcuts, charcoal drawings and oil paintings capture local festivals and everyday vineyard life. The modern vinotheque overlooks the historic building and offers Stuttgart vineyard wines, tastings and seminars. The museum and vinotheque ground floor are wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair-friendly restroom.
