Wartberg

Wartberg is a park area in Stuttgart beside the Höhenpark Killesberg, with orchards and allotments shaping its character. Its slopes open towards the broad Neckar Valley. Two serpentine paths cross the hillside, while old walls and steps recall the area's former vineyards. Egelsee forms the park's clear main visual centre. Smaller lakes surround it, and geometric water figures animate the broad lake area with changing shapes. Traditional allotments fill the gently sloping eastern basin. Ecological design shaped the allotments and smallholdings during the International Garden Exhibition. The Ecology Centre stands within this green setting. Information boards explain the valuable habitats, while the Akademie Naturlabor connects the park with environmental education. Two footbridges link Wartberg with the Leibfried Garden. The Bombay footbridge and Brünner Seg bridge cross Heilbronner Straße, joining several green spaces around Stuttgart. Wartberg brings water, cultivated land, history, and urban nature together.
