Porsche Museum

Porsche Museum stands beside Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart’s Zuffenhausen district, presenting more than eighty vehicles in a modern setting. Its 5,600-square-metre display area keeps architectural, media, and typographic elements visually restrained. That quiet design directs your attention toward rare cars and historical Porsche models from the company’s development. Wheelchair access makes the exhibition available to visitors with limited mobility.

The original museum opened in 1976 with room for about twenty exhibits, rotating cars from 300 restored vehicles. Many remain fully driveable, so the collection can leave the galleries for displays elsewhere. Delugan Meissl Associated Architects shaped the building, while HG Merz designed its exhibition spaces. A working collection preserves cars that Porsche can prepare for worldwide use with only a few hours’ notice. Many vehicles rest in a carefully organised secret storage facility until an exhibition or journey requires them. Their readiness keeps these historic machines connected to the road, not only to the display floor.

Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Stuttgart. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.

What is myTuur?
