Inspiration 911
Inspiration 911 rises at Porscheplatz in Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart, a setting closely tied to Porsche’s automotive history. Three pillars reach up to twenty-four metres, each carrying a Porsche 911 above the square.
British artist Gerry Judah created the sculpture to connect three generations of the model with its Stuttgart origins. An F series from 1970, a G series from 1981, and the latest generation crown the pillars. The 911 first left the assembly line in Zuffenhausen in 1963, giving the arrangement a direct link to local production. Its vertical design also places engineering and automotive history prominently against the Porsche Museum.
A light show and film projections once animated the museum’s glass façade during the sculpture’s unveiling. Look up to see three distinct 911s suspended above you, reaching twenty-four metres into the Stuttgart sky.
