Antoine Chevrier
Antoine Chevrier stands in a green square in France, with a square base rising sharply towards a pyramid-shaped roof. Tall windows run along the sides, filling the interior with bright natural light. A ring crowns the angular roof and gives the building a distinct upward movement.
Henri Kubler designed this contemporary church in the early 1990s for a growing local community. He regarded the project as one of his proudest works before retirement. Inside, sliding panels open or separate the choir area, allowing the space to suit intimate gatherings and larger services. The flexible layout brings practical movement into an otherwise strongly geometric interior.
Near the altar, a nativity scene places Mary, Joseph and the child on a boat rather than in a stable. Luminous fabrics surround the scene, joining Christian tradition with an unexpected artistic gesture.
