Löwe
Löwe in Schwerin is a tavern and beer garden inside the historic market hall, where grand columns frame regional beers and wines. The hall first opened in 1785.
A replica of the Braunschweig Lion brings medieval history into this social setting. The original stands as the first monumental free-standing sculpture north of the Alps. Its symbolism reaches back to Heinrich the Lion, who ruled Bavaria and Saxony from Braunschweig and is credited with founding Schwerin in 1160.
Here, the stone lion connects a lively gathering place with Schwerin’s origins and Heinrich’s legacy. The columns and the replica provide two details to carry with you.
