Demmlerhaus
Demmlerhaus stands in Schwerin’s Altstadt as a three-storey plastered building by Georg Adolf Demmler. Its romanticised Tudor style combines medieval towers with classical gable projections.
Georg Adolf Demmler completed the building in 1843 while shaping Schwerin’s urban expansion. An octagonal four-storey corner tower rises beside two rectangular towers, each topped by a medieval tent roof. One tower carries a lantern, while the side gables frame varied round-arched windows. The ground floor now accommodates shops and the Stadtwerke Schwerin customer service centre.
Since 2024, the building has formed part of the Residenzensemble Schwerin UNESCO World Heritage site. Look up from the Altstadt street to compare the lantern, tent roofs and octagonal tower in one striking façade.
