Muzeu i Traditës

Muzeu i Traditës stands in central Saranda, Albania, inside an eighteenth-century building about ten metres long. At roughly three and a half metres high, the compact setting brings local material culture into close view. Household tools, handmade crafts, traditional furniture, and low dining tables show how families organised everyday life.

Clothing from Çamëria, the Greek minority, Delvina, and nearby communities reveals the region’s cultural variety. A Theollogos costume, around 120 years old, includes a wool dress, belt, embroidered scarf, and white undergarment. Carpets, dowry chests, and other handiwork connect domestic skill with family life. The second floor presents further clothing and tools from Saranda and surrounding villages, while reflecting the area’s Orthodox, Muslim, and other communities.

Naim Frashëri worked in this building between 1874 and 1876, adding a literary thread to its history. The preserved Theollogos outfit remains a particularly vivid detail, donated by the family of the grandmother who once wore it.
