Pinacoteca Rambaldi

Pinacoteca Rambaldi is a museum in Sanremo, Italy, established in 1865. The museum occupies Villa Luca, a restored late nineteenth-century residence in Coldirodi. Frescoed rooms by Giovanni Morscio lead towards gardens overlooking the bays of Sanremo and Ospedaletti.

Its collection holds about one hundred paintings spanning the fifteenth through nineteenth centuries. Paolo Stefano Rambaldi, a priest from Coldirodi, left the bequest behind the museum. His years as a seminary rector in Florence shaped the collection’s artistic connections. Religious scenes stand beside landscapes, still lifes, floral compositions, and portraits. The library contains more than five thousand volumes, including incunabula, manuscripts, and sixteenth-century books.

Lorenzo di Credi’s Madonna with Child dates from around 1480. Fra Bartolomeo’s small Holy Family carries an attribution and a date between 1512 and 1516. Salvator Rosa appears through several works, including The Temptations of Saint Anthony. The library also preserves correspondence with figures such as Alessandro Manzoni and Massimo d’Azeglio. Two portraits of Rambaldi, painted in 1850 and 1860, remain among the collection’s most personal details.
