Popova muižiņa

Popova muižiņa stands in Riga as a single-storey wooden manor house, built between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Horizontal beams support its high French roof. A high base floor, cellar, and apartments tucked into the roof show how residents used the structure.

Russian merchants named Popov once owned the house, and a metal monogram remains visible in an overhead window. A 1769 plan shows manor houses, causeways, French gardens, and vegetable gardens surrounding this site. Only this wooden building survives from that former group of manor houses. Late Baroque shapes the architecture, while Neo-Classical windows, portals, and lucarnes add other period details. Rococo appears in the door forgings and edgings.

Later planking covered the formerly even façade, changing the exterior surface. A cover spans the full pavement above the entrance, likely allowing carriage passengers to enter without wet feet. Its poor condition contrasts with recognition as a local architectural monument.
