Pomologie Park
Pomologie Park is a green space in Germany, close to a city centre and shaped for walking, pausing, and observing nature. Paths and open parkland create a calm setting for families and everyday recreation. Beneath this peaceful landscape lies a history connected with fruit growing, garden knowledge, and careful study. The grounds bring together horticulture, public green space, and the living details of cultivated plants.
In eighteen sixty, Eduard Lucas founded a private school here for horticulture, fruit growing, and pomology. Students learned to cultivate gardens and distinguish fruit varieties. Pomology studies fruit species and varieties, including their identification and systematic classification. Lucas also founded and led the German Pomologists’ Association, extending this knowledge beyond the school. In nineteen eighty-four, the site and the Volkspark hosted a state garden exhibition. That exhibition created the park landscape that still offers a nearby place for rest and recreation. Where students once compared apples and pears, you can now encounter the same setting through paths, greenery, and quiet pauses.
