Xhamia e Arastës
Xhamia e Arastës stands in Prizren as the surviving minaret of an Ottoman mosque beside the former Arasta Bazaar. Evrenos Zade Jakup Beu built the mosque between 1526 and 1538. Covered stalls once served travelling merchants, while the two-storey building placed storage and offices below its prayer room.
Renovation in 1911 received financial support from Sultan Reshat. During the 1960s, modern buildings replaced the demolished bazaar and mosque, leaving the minaret as the sole survivor. The protected minaret underwent restoration in 1970.
A wooden door provides access to the tuff-block minaret, which joins Prizren’s heritage trail. The route connects it with the Gazi Mehmed Pasha Hamam and nearby Roman ruins.
