Xhamia e Jashar Pashës

Xhamia e Jashar Pashës stands in Pristina as an Ottoman mosque and a notable work of local architectural heritage. Its late Ottoman Baroque style gives the building a distinct visual character. The mosque is also known as the Middle Mosque, a familiar name in Pristina.

Jashar Mehmed Pasha built it in 1834, when he served as governor of Skopje. He commissioned the mosque to commemorate his son. Religious worship and social gatherings have both shaped its role within the local community.

Structural concerns led to closure in 2009, after the building faced a risk of collapse. Extensive restoration followed, and the mosque reopened in 2016. The memory of Jashar Pasha’s son remains at the heart of a building that also serves communal life.
