Wasserturm
Wasserturm in Potsdam stands near the former Kaiserbahnhof, beside the Wildpark and within walking distance of Sanssouci Park. Built at the beginning of the twentieth century, the brick tower once supplied water to steam locomotives. A German-Spanish architect couple later rescued the structure from decay and turned it into a holiday home, preserving its industrial character alongside a modern, minimalist interior. Round rooms and open sightlines connect the levels, while exposed masonry and steel keep the building’s working past visible.
The ground floor retains a domed ceiling, old iron staircases, and the original water tank with its fittings. A rooftop terrace opens above the tower. Walks through the Wildpark and cycle routes towards nearby lakes extend the setting beyond the walls, while public transport connects Potsdam and Berlin. The strongest detail remains the meeting of domestic life with railway infrastructure: an original water tank still stands inside a home shaped by brick, iron, and vertical space.
