Waschhaus Potsdam
Waschhaus Potsdam stands in Schiffbauergasse, Potsdam, within the former laundry rooms of a former garrison. The largest nightclub of its kind in Brandenburg’s capital also serves as a cultural centre. Music, film, dance and visual art shape concerts, parties, exhibitions, screenings and dance workshops.
About forty young people began the project in summer 1992, organising parties, events and exhibitions. The Waschhaus e.V. club followed soon after, extending the venue’s role beyond nightlife. Monthly exhibitions feature nationally and internationally successful artists, while summer brings an open-air cinema.
Bloodhound Gang, Freundeskreis, Blumfeld, Seventeen Hippies and Wir sind Helden have all played here. Concerts and exhibitions now occupy rooms first used for washing at the former military site.
