Obere Wublitz

The Obere Wublitz is a nature reserve in Potsdam, Brandenburg, beside the Wublitz. The protected area covers about one hundred hectares.

It lies southeast of Uetz and west of Marquardt, both within Potsdam’s wider urban area. The Wublitz flows towards the Havel as a right tributary.

Its natural banks include floating-leaf plants, reed beds, sedge stands, willow bushes, alder swamps, and wet meadows. Wet meadows border several waterways within the reserve.

These varied habitats provide breeding grounds for water and marsh birds, including some endangered species. Migratory birds also use the area as a resting place.

Schlänitzsee extends along the reserve’s southeastern edge, while the Sacrow-Paretzer Canal follows its southern boundary. Major roads border the reserve near Potsdam.

The reserve forms part of Potsdam’s wider network of protected areas and conserves wetlands beside the Havel. Its wetlands hold reeds, willows, alders, and wet meadows.
