La renommée au combat
La Renommée au Combat is a bronze statue by Pierre Granet on Paris’s Pont Alexandre III. The sculpture stands on the bridge’s left bank. It belongs to the bridge’s sculptural decoration, alongside gilded bronze equestrian groups and a Fame restraining Pegasus. Art and engineering meet across the Seine. Pont Alexandre III carries an ornate design with Art Nouveau lamps, cherubs, nymphs, and winged horses. The bridge spans the Seine in Paris.
Built between 1896 and 1900, the bridge combines a leaf arch, cast steel girders, and masonry viaducts. Its inauguration accompanied the Universal Exhibition in 1900. At the left bank, La Renommée au Combat shares this setting with La Renommée de la Guerre by Clément Steiner. The bridge combines public infrastructure with sculpture across its structure. La Renommée de l’Agriculture and La Renommée des Arts stand on the right bank. The right bank continues that sculptural sequence. Together, these works connect battle, agriculture, and the arts.
