Hôtel Titon
Hôtel Titon is an eighteenth-century townhouse in Paris’s tenth arrondissement, presenting a neoclassical façade with carefully ordered ornament. Jean-Charles Delafosse designed it in 1776. Tall rectangular ground-floor windows carry triangular pediments and floral garlands, while a scrollwork frieze runs beneath the entablature. The upper storey was raised in the nineteenth century.
Delafosse built the house for Antoine-François Frémin, a lawyer in the Parliament, before Jean-Baptiste-Maximilien Titon acquired it in 1783. A complete renovation followed in 2006 and 2007, and the building became a listed historical monument in 2007. Its courtyard outbuildings add rusticated façades and a rounded entrance porch.
Niches on their upper floors hold statues of mythological figures and philosophers, extending the architectural display beyond the street façade. Behind the house, Cité Paradis occupies its former gardens.
