Association Paris Historique

Association Paris Historique stands in the Marais, across Paris’s third and fourth arrondissements, at the Maison d’Ourscamp on Rue François-Miron. Its work centres on protecting historic buildings, streets and architectural heritage.

Founded in October 1963, the organisation grew from opposition to redevelopment plans that threatened private mansions and other historic structures. Michel Raude and other residents drew attention to the district through the Festival du Marais. Restoration projects at the Maison d’Ourscamp showed that these buildings could survive. Under André Malraux’s influence, the Marais gained protection in 1964. The festival later brought theatre and concerts into historic buildings until 1993.

Guided tours, conferences and cultural events reveal Paris through its architecture and history. A remarkable archive holds more than 30,000 analogue photographs and 35,000 digital images. Projects have included the Hôtel Lambert and the Maison du Fontainier.

Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Paris. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.

What is myTuur?
