Ridehuset Scene
Ridehuset Scene stands inside Akershus Fortress in central Oslo, placing a concert venue among centuries-old military buildings. Its preserved exterior still shows its former riding-hall purpose. Inside, modern lighting, sound equipment, and a grand piano support concerts, theatre, dance, recordings, and rehearsals. The hall seats up to 200 people.
Since 2007, the venue has served as the main concert stage for the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces. Its amphitheatre layout keeps performers close to audiences. Flexible staging accommodates full orchestras, small ensembles, competitions, and cultural festivals, including appearances by the Oslo Philharmonic and Ultima Festival. Jazz, theatre, and dance have also filled the space.
The historic setting and updated interior make the hall a clear example of adaptive reuse within Oslo. Military and civilian organizations both use the performance space. Past events have ranged from the European Conductor’s Competition to Army Summit gatherings, extending its role beyond concerts.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Oslo. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
