Raubà capeu
Raubà capeu is a coastal viewpoint in Nice, France, beside the Promenade des Anglais. From here, you see the pebble beach and the sweeping Baie des Anges. The broad seafront leaves room for walking, jogging, photography, or watching waves along the Mediterranean. Strong winds give this seaside place its local nickname, “hat stealer.”
The promenade connects with routes from the Nice Opera to Colline du Château and the port. Gentle slopes link the shoreline with Castle Hill’s park, viewpoints, and waterfall. A clear line of sight reaches the city, sea, and sometimes distant mountains. Nearby, Monument aux Morts de Rauba Capeu rises within the hillside as a First World War memorial.
Its stonework includes two high reliefs by Alfred Janniot, representing war and peace. An urn inside preserves the names of people from Nice who fell during the war. At this meeting point of open sea and remembrance, a coastal stroll gains a memorable pause.
