Wasserturm Wiley
Wasserturm Wiley is a historic water tower in Neu-Ulm, Germany, and one of the last remnants of the area’s American military presence. Its utilitarian design stands beside new university buildings, creating a clear contrast between military history and modern education.
Since 2022, the tower has had protected-monument status, while the city has begun planning its renovation. The work aims to preserve the structure and maintain this visible reminder of Neu-Ulm’s military past. The tower also reflects the city’s transition from a military centre towards education and international connections.
