Mutter mit Kindern und Lamm
Mutter mit Kindern und Lamm is a sculpture by Edwin Scharff, displayed in Neu-Ulm, Germany. The group shows a mother in ancient attire holding one child, while another reaches towards her.
A resting lamb stays beside them against a flat stone background. Edwin Scharff created the relief in 1953 for a public health authority in Hamburg, giving the mother the central position. A bronze version followed in 1954 as a gift intended for South Africa. Neu-Ulm holds a second cast from 1967, which preserves the family group in another material.
The lamb brings a small, attentive detail to the scene of care and protection. Bronze changed the surface with its own texture and patina, while the composition kept its focus on the mother.
