Wirtshaus Aumeister

Wirtshaus Aumeister stands at the northern edge of Munich’s Englischer Garten, combining a historic pub with a beer garden. Old chestnut trees provide shade across the outdoor seating area. The building presents a neoclassical design with two storeys and a hipped roof. Its wheelchair-accessible setting welcomes visitors in the park.

Originally, the site formed part of a hunting lodge and served refreshments to hunting guests. Master builder Joseph Deiglmayr designed the present building in the early nineteenth century. Bavaria protects the structure as a cultural heritage monument. The place preserves that architectural history while continuing its role as a social meeting point in Munich.

Under the chestnuts, the beer garden serves traditional Bavarian dishes, including Leberkäs, Schweinshaxe and Obazda. Seasonal beers include Maibock and Sommerbier for the table. Visitors also use the outdoor setting for family gatherings, weddings, live music and archery. The venue connects a hunting-lodge past with food, beer and gatherings beside Munich’s park landscape.
