Winthirsäule
Winthirsäule stands at Winthirplatz in Neuhausen, Munich, as a fifteenth-century fieldstone monument. Its rough surface honours Winthir, a revered wandering preacher who lived in the twelfth century.
The column originally stood along the axis between Hirschgarten and Neuhausen, before urban development and traffic considerations brought it here. Its original inscription to the “Blessed Winthir” has disappeared, leaving the stone itself as the clearest surviving detail. Rotkreuzplatz lies a short walk away, adding a busy modern landmark to this historic setting.
