Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz

The Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz stands in Munich’s Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt district as a classicist opera house designed by Franz Michael Reiffenstuel. King Ludwig II authorised this theatre’s creation in Bavaria. It began as a Volkstheater, or people’s theatre, and later became known for operetta performances.
