Erinnerungsort Olympia-Attentat München '72

Erinnerungsort Olympia-Attentat München '72 stands in Munich’s Olympiapark as a memorial to the 1972 Olympic attack. An incision in the landscape gives the site a visible shape for remembrance and reflection. The setting places this difficult history within the park’s quiet surroundings, away from the original location on Connollystraße.

The memorial commemorates eleven Israeli athletes and one German police officer killed by the Palestinian group Black September. A video installation presents the events and their wider impact in German with English subtitles. Its ten-minute film stretches across an eleven-metre-wide screen, turning the memory into something you can encounter through architecture, landscape and moving images.
