Deutsches Museum
Deutsches Museum ranks among the largest and most traditional museums of science and technology in the world, and it stands in Germany. A tower rises over wide halls where aircraft, switchgear and heavy machines share space with hands-on demonstrations. Workshops let you run experiments yourself, and family areas look after the youngest visitors.
A major renovation has transformed the building, and the first renewed section alone spans some twenty thousand square metres. A new aerospace hall leads the additions, while the high-voltage apparatus and the mine remain closed for several years of restoration. One thread of the galleries follows Siemens, and it begins with a dynamo built by Werner von Siemens. That machine marks a decisive step in electrical engineering: it converts motion reliably into electric power. Models of electric locomotives and railcars from Siemens & Halske show how electricity reordered mobility. Telecommunications, lighting and power transmission belong to the same story. Electric light lengthens the day, electric motors reshape factory work, and electric railways link homes and workplaces more quickly. Every wire, wheel and measuring instrument here stands for the wider turn to an electrically connected world. What sits as an exhibit has gone on to shape jobs, company sites and whole neighbourhoods.
The new restaurant Frau im Mond waits at the top with a roof terrace. Overhead, the tower runs its own measurements: a modern weather station and Germany's largest thermometer.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Munich. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
