Börse München

Börse München stands at Karolinenplatz on Brienner Straße, within Munich’s financial district. The historic exchange connects securities trading with the city’s changing urban landscape. Its story began in the 1830s, when local traders met to exchange securities. The institution received official recognition in 1869.

Originally, the exchange occupied a grand building at Lenbachplatz before moving to its present location. A merger with the Augsburg Stock Exchange created Bayerische Börse in 1935. In 2003, the Munich designation returned, while trading continued across national and international markets. Stocks, bonds and exchange-traded funds form part of its regulated financial activity. The exchange closed during the First World War but reopened in 1918.
