Arco-Palais
Arco-Palais stands at Theatinerstraße 7, on the corner of Theatinerstraße and Maffeistraße in Munich’s Old Town. The commercial building took shape between 1908 and 1910, designed by Georg Meister and Oswald Bieber.
The Bavarian noble Arco family owned the property until 1937, while Heinrich Thannhauser’s Modern Gallery brought modern art into its rooms. Exhibitions by the Neue Künstlervereinigung München took place here, including the first exhibition of the Der Blaue Reiter group. The entrance hall preserves frescos by Reinhold Max Eichler, whose Four Seasons give the building a vivid interior detail. The wider block is registered as a historical monument.
