Alter Wirt

Alter Wirt is a historic inn in Forstenried, a Munich district, standing at the village centre’s main intersection. Its two-storey form, half-hipped roof and shuttered windows create a distinctly traditional Bavarian scene.

Built around 1800, the protected monument faces Holy Cross Church, Forstenried Forestry House and a war memorial across Forstenrieder Allee. The rectangular building measures about 37 metres by 15 metres, with 13 window axes along Forstenrieder Allee and four along Herterichstraße. Several interior changes have shaped the inn over time, while the most extensive renovation took place in 1996.

The building’s position beside three notable landmarks makes its village setting easy to picture. Traditional Bavarian hospitality continues inside this historic architectural setting.
