Martina-Glagow-Park

Martina-Glagow-Park sits in central Mittenwald, in the Isar valley beneath the northern foothills of the Alps. Green lawns offer a quiet pause among the town’s painted fresco houses. The public space also marks a starting point or waypoint for historical walks and longer alpine hikes. A parking area includes accessible spaces and digital parking options.

Formerly known as Karwendelpark, the park honours biathlete Martina Glagow, later Martina Beck. A small plaque records her sporting achievements beside the walking routes. She won three Olympic silver medals, fifteen World Cup victories, and twelve World Championship medals across three colours. Those results connect this peaceful corner with one of Mittenwald’s celebrated local sporting careers.

Behind the plaque, a flower circle carries the biathlon emblem, linking the garden directly to her discipline. Nearby paths lead towards St. Peter and Paul, the Violin Making Museum, shops, and cafés. The Isar valley and surrounding Alps give the short stop a distinctly Mittenwald setting.
