Plinius Multisala

Plinius Multisala stands on Viale Abruzzi in Milan, carrying a substantial chapter of the city’s entertainment history. Its six screens accommodate more than 1,400 seats. Built in the 1930s, the venue began as a theatre during an era of expanding community culture.

Daily revue shows combined music, dance, and sketches for local audiences. Angelo Cecchelin and the young Aldo Fabrizi appeared there. Totò also made his first performance in a Northern Italian city at this theatre.

Renovations in 1966 changed the building from live performances to film screenings. A further refurbishment in the mid-1990s created the multiscreen cinema that stands there now. Several films can run simultaneously, while the original theatre setting remains part of its story.
