Museo del Profumo

Museo del Profumo stands on Via Messina in Milan, bringing perfume history into a collection of art and objects. Founded in 2004, it traces two centuries of Italian and international perfumery.

Around 2,000 perfume bottles fill the collection, alongside paintings, prints and objects connected with fragrance. Salvador Dalí, René Lalique and Carlo Scarpa appear through original designs that turn containers into artworks. The museum focuses solely on the art and history of twentieth-century perfumery in Italy. Guided tours with Giorgio Dalla Villa and Daniela Candio add stories about perfume houses and their artistic values.

One story follows Chanel No. 5 during the Second World War, linking a familiar fragrance with a turbulent period. Each bottle brings together design, craftsmanship and the changing history of perfume.
