Casa Toscanini
Casa Toscanini occupies Via Durini in central Milan as a three-storey palazzetto from the eighteenth century. Its baroque façade carries an Andalusian-style wrought-iron balcony with an elaborate pattern. The balcony resembles a canopy and once held a curtain for shade and privacy. A grand entrance leads into a quaint baroque courtyard, whose design echoes the balcony’s intricate metalwork.
Arturo Toscanini lived here for nearly forty years, and plaques on the façade commemorate his residence. Virgilio Floriani, philanthropist and founder of Fondazione Floriani, also lived in the house for about twenty years. The building brings together Milanese baroque architecture, southern Spanish influence, and the homes of two notable residents.
