Casa Moretti

Casa Moretti stands at Via Dante 14 in central Milan, presenting a late-nineteenth-century facade arranged in three sections. Stone frames the central ground and mezzanine levels around a grand arched portal.

Romeo Bottelli designed the building with Oreste Portaluppi’s collaboration during Milan’s urban development at the end of the nineteenth century. Classical and modern elements meet across its elevations. The central portal carries a decorative cartouche, while strong corbels support the piano nobile balcony.

Large square mezzanine windows are divided by slender cast-iron columns, an innovative detail for their period. Triangular and curved pediments crown the noble-floor windows above. Higher levels simplify the ornament, while the side sections introduce serliana and bifora windows.
