Teatro Echegaray
Teatro Echegaray stands in Málaga’s historic centre, where its artisanal decoration brings historicist and eclectic architecture into view. Manuel Rivera Vera built the theatre in 1932, originally creating a cinema within the city’s historic fabric.
A major rehabilitation finished in 2009 under architects Francisco Peñalosa Izuzquiza, Salvador Moreno Peralta, and César Olano Gurriarán. Retractable seating now lets the 304-seat venue shift between dance, theatre, music, and other cultural events, while educational activities extend its use beyond performances.
Wheelchair access adds a practical detail to this adaptable cultural space. Its management alongside Teatro Cervantes connects the venue with Málaga’s wider programme of performances and cultural gatherings.
