Placa a Rafael Pérez Estrada
In Málaga, Placa a Rafael Pérez Estrada honours a local poet, artist and lawyer through a public tribute. Rafael Pérez Estrada was born in Málaga on 16 February 1934.
His avant-garde work spans poetry, narrative and art, with more than forty books published across his career. He studied law at the University of Granada. After moving to Madrid in 1959, he contributed to magazines and radio before returning to Málaga in 1960. His first book, Valle de los Galanes, appeared in 1968.
Breviario, Libro de los Reyes and El Levantador y su Vértigo show his innovative literary style. He helped create the Centro Cultural Generación del 27 and the Social Council of the University of Málaga. Málaga named him Hijo Predilecto, while the province honoured him posthumously with the same distinction.
