Panteón Barceló
Panteón Barceló stands within San Miguel Cemetery in Málaga, a historic site where many notable figures from the city’s past rest. Its history follows Don Antonio Barceló Madueño, born in Málaga in 1850. In 1875, he founded Bodegas Barceló y Torres, one of the city’s first wine cellars and a major local business. The Barceló family originally came from Palma de Mallorca. Exports made the cellar famous, first from Calle Cuarteles and later from Perchel on Calle Malpica.
Don Antonio married Doña Dolores de Torres Ribera, and their family grew to twelve children. Several children joined Hijos de Antonio Barceló S.A., linking the family to Málaga’s commercial life. Their wine business shaped part of the city’s economic and cultural history. San Miguel Cemetery preserves that connection among Málaga’s historic resting places. Two streets mark the cellar’s changing addresses: Calle Cuarteles and Calle Malpica.
