Hacienda Quintana

Hacienda Quintana stands in Málaga’s Ciudad Jardín district as a historic example of nineteenth-century señorial architecture. Its distinctive red façade marks the estate clearly from the surrounding gardens.

The square main building rises on a base that follows the slope and opens onto a terrace with iron railings. Its front combines a central section with gabled side sections. Gardens and a pond extend around the estate, while an adjoining building contains a mill and bread oven. A separate building once served lodging and storage needs.

The estate’s buildings carry Grade II architectural protection, while a rehabilitation project proposes cultural spaces for Verdiales music. The Verdiales tradition belongs to Málaga’s local musical heritage. Rehabilitation plans address humidity, structure, insulation, accessibility, and modern amenities. The proposed centre would interpret Verdiales music within this protected architectural setting. The nearby San Telmo Aqueduct and Bridge of Eleven Eyes deepen the site’s historical setting.
