Casa del Consulado
Casa del Consulado stands on Málaga’s Plaza de la Constitución, at the junction with Calle Compañía. Its eighteenth-century Baroque classicist façade forms part of the city’s historic centre, near the Escuela de San Telmo, Santo Cristo de la Salud Church and the Carmen Thyssen Museum.
José Martín de Aldehuela designed the building, completed in 1785 for the Montepío de Socorro a los Cosecheros and the Maritime and Terrestrial Consulate. Since 1856, the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País has occupied it and maintained an important library. The property became a National Historic Monument in 1923, while its central courtyard and flying galleries preserve the character of eighteenth-century domestic architecture.
A varied marble portal leads your eye to an attic medallion bearing the motto, “Socorre al diligente. Niega al perezoso.” Continuous balconies run across the second and third floors, overlooking celebrations in Málaga’s civic square.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Malaga. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
