Transformatorenstation Prester

Transformatorenstation Prester stands in Magdeburg’s Prester district as a protected transformer station from around 1920. The circular base supports a structure about six metres high, with a baroque façade and a Mansard roof.

Lisenengliederung frames the walls, while a broken triangular pediment crowns the entrance. The station still distributes electricity, originally serving an area within an 800-metre radius. A nearly identical building stands farther north in Cracau, at the beginning of Pechauer Straße.

The Heimatstil design joins local character with practical urban infrastructure. Its decorated façade and working electrical purpose make the small building a distinctive surviving detail of Magdeburg’s early twentieth-century development.
