Rudyard Kipling
Rudyard Kipling brings you to Brown’s Hotel in London, a literary landmark where writers, royalty and other notable guests have stayed. Since 1837, the hotel has stood at the meeting point of London’s literary and cultural life.
Kipling spent many of his final days here and finished The Jungle Book in the suite now called the Kipling Suite. The room contains classic books, artworks and a lamp shaped like an Edwardian straw hat. In 1936, he was found at his desk in this suite after suffering a perforated ulcer. Brown’s Hotel also hosted Mark Twain, who appeared in the lobby wearing pyjamas, and Stephen King, who began writing Misery during a stay. Alexander Graham Bell demonstrated the first successful telephone call in the United Kingdom here. Today, the suite preserves a direct connection to Kipling’s London through its books, art and writing desk.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Greater London. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
