Franz-Josefs-Warte
Franz-Josefs-Warte stands on the 405-metre Freinberg above Linz, surrounded by trees, paths and open green space. The observation tower gives you a broad panorama across the city and its surroundings. From the elevated viewpoint, Linz rooftops and the Danube stretch across the landscape below. On clear days, distant hills and the countryside beyond the city come into view.
The walk to the tower follows the Freinberg and offers a straightforward way to combine urban views with nature. Locals use these paths for walking, jogging, dog outings and quiet breaks among the trees. The structure belongs to the tradition of public observation towers built for outdoor recreation and expansive views. Its setting makes the Danube’s course through Linz especially easy to trace from above. At sunset, changing light settles across the rooftops, river and Upper Austrian landscape.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Linz. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
