Rudolf Opitz
Rudolf Opitz was a Leipzig lithographer, born in 1908 and killed in 1939 as an opponent of the Nazi Party. His work involved printing with a flat stone or metal plate. Leipzig remembers his resistance through several everyday places across the city.
A service road in Gohlis bears the name Rudi-Opitz-Straße. The Gohlis tram depot carried the name Jugendbahnhof „Rudi Opitz“ from 1950 to 1994. In Grünau, the school on Miltitzer Weg was called Rudi-Opitz-Oberschule before 1992 and Mittelschule „Rudi Opitz“ until 2004. These street, transport and school connections keep his memory visible in Leipzig’s urban landscape.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Leipzig. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
