ASM
ASM occupies the historic Dossenberger-Pfarrhof in Krumbach, Bavaria, a late-Baroque building designed by architect Joseph Dossenberger. The Pfarrhof stands beside a large garden near Billenhausen Church.
Its street-facing façade combines a two-storey mansard roof with a prominent central risalit and architectural painting. That treatment gives the building a castle-like appearance. Inside, the entrance hall and staircase retain mirrored ceilings, wooden floors and painted doors by Jakob Fröschle. The Pfarrhof’s painted doors date from 1781.
A restoration from 1978 to 1983 repaired the roof and recovered the façade’s historical colour scheme. The adjoining Pfarrstadel adds a barn from the same period. Today, the building houses the Allgäu-Schwäbischer Musikbund, whose work connects regional music clubs, ensembles and orchestras. Music gives ASM a cultural and social role.
Abbot Wilhelm III Schoellhorn commissioned the Pfarrhof for the Reichsabtei Ursberg, replacing an earlier structure. The garden places it near Billenhausen Church. The adjoining Pfarrstadel received restoration in 1997.
