Wilhelm Ahlmann
Wilhelm Ahlmann brings you into Kiel’s nineteenth-century history through commerce, civic work and cultural life. He founded Kiel’s first private bank in 1852. Banking placed him at the centre of the city’s economic development, while transport and infrastructure shaped his work in public life. He served as a city councillor from 1866 to 1888.
His influence also reached Kiel’s cultural institutions and public conversation. He supported the establishment of the Kunsthalle. He helped found the Kieler Zeitung and later became associated with the Kieler Kaufmann, whose business club acquired his former residence. Built as Ahlmann’s retirement home, the mansion became a hotel and clubhouse before passing through further transformations.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Kiel. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
