Kempten – The City That Existed Twice
For six hundred years, two rival cities with the same name sat side by side in Kempten: the Catholic abbey town of the prince-abbots and the Protestant free imperial city. This walk tells that story in 15 stages, from Roman Cambodunum to Germany's last condemned witch, a hidden chapel and a record-breaking wooden bridge, to Baroque state rooms and six hundred years of brewing. Around 3.3 km, a good two and a half hours.
