St. Nikolaus

St. Nikolaus stands in Höselhurst, Germany, as a late Gothic church with surviving parts from an earlier building. Pointed arches, ribbed vaults and flying buttresses shape the architecture you see here. Historical records mention the church in 1367, linking its presence to Höselhurst across many centuries.

The church originally belonged to the parish of Ichenhausen before the Augustinian Canons of Wettenhausen made it independent in 1455. A major renovation followed in 1747 under Provost Melchior Gast, expanding the building and adding artistic details. Restoration work in 1987 and 1988 helped preserve the late Gothic structure and its older fabric.

Inside, the high altar presents a rare high relief of the Lamentation of Christ. The scene shows the Virgin Mary holding Jesus after his death, giving the interior its most striking focal point.
